Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
SageHomeowner is operated by TC IP Holdings LLC, a company registered in the United States (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We operate the website located at www.sagehomeowner.com (the “Site”).
We act as the data controller for the personal information you provide to us through the Site. Questions about this policy may be directed to us at the contact details in Section 13.
2. Information We Collect
When you request a home service quote, we collect the following personal information:
- Identification data — your first and last name
- Contact data — your email address and phone number
- Property data — your property type (e.g., house, condo/townhouse, multi-family home) and ZIP code
- Service data — the type of home service you are requesting (e.g., roofing, siding, solar)
- Urgency data — how soon you need the service
We also automatically collect limited technical data when you visit the Site:
- IP address and approximate geographic location (derived from ZIP code or IP)
- Browser type, operating system, and referring URL
- Pages viewed and time spent on the Site (analytics only — see Section 8)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information you provide for the following purposes:
- Lead generation and marketplace — we use your service inquiry to connect you with home-service offerings. We may contact you directly (ourselves or through affiliated sales representatives) and/or offer your inquiry through our marketplace to a sales organization or an independent home-service provider, who may use your information to respond to your quote request.
- Communication — SageHomeowner, its affiliated sales representatives, and any sales organization or home-service provider that receives your inquiry may contact you by phone, text message, or email to discuss your project. By submitting the quote form and checking the consent box, you expressly authorize this contact, including via automated telephone technology or pre-recorded messages, in accordance with the TCPA and applicable state laws. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
- Site improvement — to understand how visitors use the Site and improve its functionality and content.
- Legal compliance — to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and court orders.
4. How We Share Your Information
We operate a lead marketplace. After you submit an inquiry, we may contact you directly (ourselves or through affiliated sales representatives) and/or sell or transfer your inquiry through our marketplace to a sales organization or an independent home-service provider. We do not sell your information to data brokers or advertising networks.
A recipient of your inquiry receives your name, contact details, property type, service category, ZIP code, and urgency level, and may use this information to respond to your service request.
We may also disclose your information to:
- Service processors — vendors who help us operate the Site (e.g., hosting providers, email delivery, analytics) under written data-processing agreements that prohibit them from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.
- Legal authorities — if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SageHomeowner, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case your information would remain subject to this Privacy Policy or a substantially similar one.
5. Lawful Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction covered by the GDPR or similar legislation, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — when you check the consent box on our quote form and submit your information, you give us explicit consent to (a) list your inquiry on our lead marketplace and (b) share your contact details with the single professional who purchases your lead, allowing that professional to contact you. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 7).
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for fraud prevention, Site security, and improving our marketplace matching, where our interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) — where processing is required to comply with applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your lead information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, generally no longer than 24 months from the date of submission, unless a longer period is required by law or is necessary to resolve a dispute.
You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 7).
7. Your Privacy Rights
GDPR Rights (EEA / UK)
If GDPR applies to you, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — ask us to delete your personal data where there is no overriding legal reason to retain it.
- Right to data portability — request a machine-readable export of the data you provided to us.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.
- Right to lodge a complaint — you have the right to complain to your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe we have processed your data unlawfully.
CCPA / CPRA Rights (California Residents)
Because we sell personal information (your lead inquiry is purchased by a professional through our marketplace), California residents have the following rights under the CCPA/CPRA:
- Right to know — request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected and sold in the past 12 months.
- Right to delete — request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale — you may opt out of the sale of your personal information at any time. See “Opt Out of Sale” below.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by CPRA.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA/CPRA right.
New Jersey Data Privacy Act (NJDPA) Rights (NJ Residents)
Because we sell personal data, New Jersey residents have the following rights under the NJ Data Privacy Act (P.L. 2023, c. 266, effective January 15, 2025):
- Right to confirm and access — request confirmation of whether we process your personal data and obtain a copy of that data.
- Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to delete — request deletion of personal data you provided to us or that we collected about you.
- Right to data portability — request a portable copy of your personal data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to opt out of sale — you may opt out of the sale of your personal data at any time. See “Opt Out of Sale” below.
- Right to opt out of profiling — you may opt out of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. We do not engage in such profiling.
- Right to opt out of targeted advertising — we do not use your personal data for targeted advertising.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC) — if your browser sends a GPC opt-out signal, we will treat it as a request to opt out of the sale of your personal data.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any NJDPA right.
If we deny your rights request, you may appeal that decision by submitting a written appeal to privacy@sagehomeowner.com within 30 days of receiving our denial. We will respond to your appeal within 60 days and explain our reasons in writing. If your appeal is also denied, you may contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
Opt Out of Sale of Your Personal Information
To opt out of the sale of your personal information, send an email to privacy@sagehomeowner.com with the subject line “Opt Out of Sale” and include the name and email address you used when submitting your inquiry. We will process your request within 15 business days and will not sell any personal data submitted after your opt-out is confirmed.
You may also opt out by activating the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser; we honor GPC signals as opt-out requests from NJ residents.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of the rights above, please contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond within 45 days of receiving your verifiable request (or 30 days for EEA/UK residents under GDPR). We may extend the 45-day window by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary; if so, we will notify you of the extension within the initial period. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.
8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use essential cookies required for the Site to function (e.g., session cookies for the admin area). We may also use analytics tools that set cookies to help us understand aggregate traffic patterns. These tools are configured to anonymize IP addresses and do not build individual advertising profiles.
You may disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies will not affect your ability to submit a quote request.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through our Site, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
10. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Data Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. If you are accessing the Site from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By submitting a quote request, you acknowledge this transfer. Where required by applicable law, we apply appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers of EEA/UK personal data.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Site after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
